Britannia Treadles. The Britannia Sewing machine Company, based in Colchester, England, were as well renowned for their treadle designs as their machine heads. Joseph Blomfield, a managing partner in the company, submitted the designs illustrated for patent protection in 1868. Their manufacture resulted in treadles which today, can be considered highly desirable. The Britannia name was revived recently by the Franklin Group in Colchester who are also distributors for Juki & the Happy Embroidery machine. We are only able to sell Britannia products in Scotland.
